Avoid life-threatening deep vein thrombosis (DVO when flying -choose a flight that leaves at an off-peak tjme. DVT can be caused by traveling in cramped conditions on long-haul flights - blood clots kill one person landing at Heathrow each month. Next time you fly book a mid-morning, overnight or early afternoon flight in the middle of the week you'll have more space. If you are travelling with someone else, book the aisle and window seats in a row. The middle seats are the last ones assigned. If you do end up with someone in the middle, chances are that you can convince that person to trade for one of your seats, so you can end up sitting next to your travel companion. Travel overseas safely take your own medication with you.Information: recent UK studies reveal that that many UK holidaymakers buying medicines abroad are supplied with the wrong drugs. Reason: some holiday-makers are unable to speak the foreign language well enough. And some overseas pharmacists do not ask sufficient questions! Statistic: of 54 chemists chosen at random in Barcelona, Cairo and Istanbul, only 13 supplied drugs which were appropriate for the holidaymakers' conditions. Wise advice: put medication in clearly marked bottles, carry a separate list of your drugs and medical conditions, plus a letter from your GP confirming your prescribed medication. This will minimize unwanted attention at customs. For more information and other travel advice and tips click here!
